Paul qualified as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in 1983 and was invited to register as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Oman in 2019. Paul has lived and practised in Oman since 1983 and has over 40 years' experience in Oman. Paul is the Founder and current Chairman of the Omani British Lawyers' Association and has also worked in private practice in London, Chicago, Istanbul and Abu Dhabi. Paul is an advisor to the Board of Oman Cricket.

Experience

• Advising an Indian Group, the second largest producer of renewables in India, in relation to all aspects of its proposed investment in Oman in the EV batteries sector, more specifically to construct a facility in Salalah Free Zone for the production of complex metal phosphates and intermediates, with a total investment value in the region of OMR 189 million/$500 million.
• Advising a multinational consortium comprising a Danish fund, another Danish investor and an Omani partner in relation to all aspects of their successful bid for the first tender in Oman for a green hydrogen project awarded by a government entity. The concession area is close to Duqm Port and Free Zone, with a total investment value in the region of $6 billion.
• Advising a private company on its proposed joint venture with South Korean investors in connection with a new carbon capture business, including structuring options for a limited liability company, allocation of shareholding and control, authorities of authorised managers and signatories, and related corporate and commercial considerations.
• Advising the successful bidder, an Omani/Malaysian joint venture, in relation to the first Public Private Partnership in Oman for the construction and operation of a new state of the art drug rehabilitation centre in Sohar, including negotiating the Partnership Contract with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health.
