Hamza joined Bait Al Qanoon in 2019. Hamza supports and advises clients through legal research, drafting memoranda, pleadings, appeals, and court applications. Hamza represents clients before the Courts, Public Prosecution, Royal Oman Police and other competent authorities within the Sultanate of Oman in relation to disputes, with a particular focus on criminal, family and employment disputes.

Experience

• Representing the owner of an Oman-based cargo and logistics company in commercial and criminal proceedings relating to the misuse and loss of company assets. Obtained a commercial judgment in the client's favour for over USD 200,000 and assisted in the criminal proceedings, which resulted in charges being brought against the defendants in relation to claims exceeding USD 300,000.
• Advising and representing clients in complex family and matrimonial disputes, including cross-border family matters involving couples of different nationalities, covering divorce, custody, maintenance, and related proceedings, with a focus on the best interests of children. Negotiated amicable divorce settlements and obtained favourable custody orders, and recently succeeded in assisting a South African mother in securing custody of her children.
• Representing a senior manager of a prominent aviation company in an employment dispute, successfully negotiating a satisfactory settlement for the client without the need for court proceedings.
• Representing a silver trader and investor in criminal fraud proceedings, including attending Public Prosecution investigations and preparing a documentary defence demonstrating the transactions were genuine commercial dealings. Successfully persuaded the Public Prosecution to close the case without referral to court.
• Representing an Oman-based mining company in criminal proceedings arising from a claim exceeding OMR 14 million. Successfully defended the client and obtained an acquittal, with the client ultimately bearing no liability for the amounts claimed.
